Square, Inc. the US-based financial services company is going to establish a consortium to fight against patent trolling. The non-profit COPA is dedicated to empowering blockchain and crypto technology-based companies. Jack Dorsey, the owner of Square said proudly in a statement “Square is putting all of our crypto patents into a new non-profit organization we’re calling the Crypto Open Patent Alliance, which will maintain a shared patent library to help the Crypto community defend against patent aggressors and trolls. Join us! #bitcoin”
If applicants want to become a member of COPA, they must be willing to make their patents available. The hope is that as the shared patent library grows, more applicants will join to access the innovative technology.
